Brooklyn Nets guard Egor Demin defined his self-view as a versatile NBA player after contributing to a 114-108 preseason win over the Philadelphia 76ers on October 8. The 2025 draft pick, who started at point guard and posted 13 points and five assists, emphasized his commitment to winning in any role required.

Speaking after the game, Demin was clear about his identity. "I see myself as a very versatile player in the future and that I want to be anywhere I can benefit the team," he said. Demin told head coach Jordi Fernandez and the staff this during his pre-draft workouts and last year's Summer League. His mindset is firmly team-first.

"I'm a winner, so I want to win as much as I can," Demin continued. "If that means for me to have 25 assists and five points, or whatever that means for me, I want to win first." He explained that working on all aspects of his game, both on and off the ball, is the goal to achieve that necessary flexibility.

The win over Philadelphia was Brooklyn's second straight preseason victory, following a 124-90 rout of the Charlotte Hornets on October 6. Against the 76ers, Demin logged 22 minutes as the starting floor general. With forwards Michael Porter Jr., Day'Ron Sharpe, and rookies Mikel Brown Jr. and Joshua Jefferson sidelined, his playmaking alongside Julius Randle was vital for generating offense.

Since his rookie season, Fernandez has used Demin in various offensive roles. This aligns perfectly with the player's own description of his skills. His stat line against Philadelphia demonstrated that dual-threat capability, blending scoring and distribution.

The Nets are building momentum in the exhibition schedule. Their preseason record shows an offense finding its rhythm, outscoring opponents by a significant margin in the last two outings. Demin's development as a Swiss Army knife is a key part of that process.

Integrating his versatility gives Fernandez more lineup options and tactical flexibility. It helps cover for absent players and creates different looks for defenses. Demin's willingness to adapt is a valuable asset for any team's rotation.

The Nets' preseason schedule continues with an away game against the Washington Wizards on October 12. It will be another test for Demin and the team's evolving chemistry. Fans can track the full slate of games on our schedule page.

For Demin, the focus remains on expanding his game. "That's the goal, for sure, is being able to be everywhere," he stated. As Brooklyn prepares for the regular season, having a player dedicated to winning in whatever form it takes is a positive sign.
